Bequests
& Trusts
To
help achieve our long-term goals,
California
Canine Academy/ Assistance Dogs is seeking new funding for expanded
programs and new initiatives. We want to expand our work with educating
at-risk teens and with people in need of social/therapy interventions in
the community. We want to increase the number of puppies and dogs in
training and have more space for them to exercise and play.
If
you have you have visited CCA/AD campus, you know that we use every square
foot of our space for dogs, people and programs. Significant growth would
require significant improvements to our infrastructure including an indoor
training center.
One
way you might consider helping the Academy achieve its long-term goals is
by setting up a planned gift. There are many methods by which someone may
make a planned gift to CCA/AD;
A
Charitable Bequest is simply a distribution from your estate
to a charitable organization through your last will and testament. There
are different kinds of bequests. For each, you need to use specific
language to indicate the precise direction of your assets, and to
successfully carry out your final wishes.
General
Bequests are legacies
lift to certain people or causes that come from the general value of the
estate, and are made by designating a specific dollar amount, a particular
asset or a fixed percentage of your estate.
Specific
Bequests are made when a
particular item or property is bequeathed for a designated purpose (e.g.,
equipment with a certain designated use, of funds to be used to support a
particular program or goal, such as an endowed faculty chair at CCA/AD)
Residuary
Bequests are made when you
intend to leave the residue portion of your assets after other terms of
the will have been satisfied.
Contingency
Bequests allow you to leave a
portion of your estate to a particular charity if your named beneficiary
does not survive you.
Please
contact for more information on leaving a legacy to our programs.
Corporate
Matching Gifts
Many
employers will match the charitable donations of their employees. This is
a great opportunity to double your contribution to the California Canine
Academy/ Assistance Dogs! Please contact your Human Resource department
for any necessary forms and we will happily send in the required
documentation.

your Vehicle, Building or Property
We
are looking for a pickup truck in very good to excellent condition. We
need it to transport dogs and wheelchairs on training field trips.
We
are looking for portable buildings to have indoor training during
inclement weather.
We
are a small 501(c) 3 non-profit organization and we are the only such
organization in
Merced
County
and among the few in the
Central Valley
. Now after 24 years in the same location, the owner of the property has
told us that we MUST move so that he can plant more almond trees. We
desperately need to find another location so that we can continue to offer
the community our services and programs. Because we do have programs for
the underprivileged and at risk teens in the
Merced
County
School District
, we need a new location in the
Merced
area. We must inform the community of our plight.
We
desperately need the community to open their eyes and hearts to the plight
of
California
Canine
Academy
/ Assistance Dogs. We ask the community to help us find and donate a new
facility/home within an area of 5 miles of the town of
Merced
. The ideal property has to be large enough that would allow us to have
indoor training facilities so that training does not have to be postponed
due to inclement weather. It would be a place that would allow us to grow
and have a place where puppies can be puppies, where barking and having
room to run and play will not bother neighbors.
A place where we would have temporary living quarters for the
recipients of the dogs. There they would learn how to live and work with
their new assistance dog in the comfort of a home atmosphere.
Having
the freedom to do what you want in life…nothing more, nothing less. That
is all that a disabled person asks for. With your help,
California
Canine
Academy
/ Assistance Dogs, nothing need ever change that.

Sponsorship
It
costs approximately $10,175 to raise and train a service dog. Of this
amount, we charge our clients $2,775 for each trained dog. This price
includes a $25 application fee, $550 fee for a two-week client -training
course, which teaches the client the necessary techniques required to best
utilize their new partner and $2,200 for the service dog. Your donation of
a $10,175 team sponsorship would cover the entire cost of training and
pairing one service dog with its new, lifelong companion.
