Request a Service Dog

If you're interested in the possibility of being partnered with one of our remarkable Service Dogs, please call us and request an information packet.

Upon reading the information packet, if you decide that you would like to apply, you will need to complete the application.

A completed application includes the following;

 

	A pre-register fee $25.00 (U.S. Currency, checks or money order only)
	The completed Program Application form
	The Medical History form completed by your physician or primary care specialist
	The personal letter of reference from a friend, teacher, or someone other than a family member
	A professional letter of reference from a therapist, social worker, teacher, or any other professional with whom you have contact.
	A one-page letter stating your reasons for wanting a Service Dog and how you feel the dog would benefit you.

Staff, upon receipt of the above, will review your completed application. Those applicants we feel qualify for our program based on the application process will be contacted to schedule an interview. A preliminary interview form will be sent at that time to be completed and returned to us prior to your interview.

If you are selected for placement, the fee is $2775. This includes $25 application fee, $2200 for the service dog, and $550 for client training, which is held at our Merced training center.

Request a Social/Therapy Dog

Teaming with a Social/Therapy dog to visit schools, hospitals and nursing homes can be very rewarding. Our Social/Therapy Team Training provides people and their dogs with the skills needed to be successful.

If you're interested in doing Social/Therapy work and are looking for a dog with a suitable temperament and skills, please contact the Academy. From time to time we may have dogs that match your interests. The process involves filling out an application, having an interview and attending the first week of Assistance Dog Client Training. Often a site visit to your home is done. The cost of a Social/Therapy dogs is $600. The dogs are generally 1-2 years old, have been spayed or neutered and are current on all vaccinations.

Request a Career Change Dog

We breed service dog puppies a few times a year. Occasionally, we have puppies which are not suitable as service dog trainees. These dogs are looking for a career change. They are sweet tempered kind animals that would make wonderful family pets.

Often times these puppies have had obedience training and participate in the socialization program.
