Puppy Petting

Discover the magic of puppy love. Puppy Petters of all ages know the joy and satisfaction of volunteering is key in the development of superior service dogs. Puppy Petters help puppies to be more social, to enjoy being touched all over, and they learned to interact with adults and children of all races.

Puppy Petter can be any age. However, parents must be with the children under 12 years old. Our dog trainers will teach you how to pet, play and groom our puppies. You do not need any experience. We would love to show you how.

Our Puppy Petting schedule is EVERYDAY (except Thursday) 12:30p.m. – 2:30p.m. by appointment. Please call for more information to apply for Puppy Petting Volunteer.

Puppy Training

Only CCA/AD has volunteers called “Puppy Trainer.” We believe the Puppy Trainer is not only absolutely valuable but essential. It’s a great opportunity for puppies to learn at an early age and also a great experience for you to learn this special type of dog training.

Beginning puppy training starts with regular obedience training such as Heel, Sit, Down, and Stay and advances to Tug (open door or refrigerator), Light/Switch (turn on/off light), or Bring (retrieve items). Service Dogs are taught up to 90 commands on completion of their training.

Puppy Trainers do not need any experiences working with dogs or training them. We are looking for people who are able to love our dogs. Puppy Trainers must be over 15 years old. For under age 15 years old, we welcome you to be a Puppy Petter.

Our Puppy Training schedule is everyday (except Thursday) 10:30a.m. – 12:00p.m. by appointment. For more information and to apply as a volunteer, call;

Happy Puppy Handling Home

A Puppy Handler Home is a home who can take our dogs for a few days, weeks or a month. Our dogs usually stay in kennels; however, they need the experiences of staying in a loving home and behaving in a home environment because as a service dog they will stay with the client 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week.

The Puppy Handler Home must be a safe environment for the dog. The dog is expected to live in the home with the family or person(s). The Puppy Handler teaches the dog house manners but is not expected to formally train the dog. We are looking for a family or person(s) who can welcome our puppies into their home.

Please call for more information to apply for Happy Puppy Handling Home.

Puppy Foster Home

Puppy Foster Home is a home where a family adopts our puppy for 6-8 months. During the months, the puppy and the family member(s) must come back to our campus once a week and take puppy training lessons. After that period, the puppy will come back to our campus and take final training by our service dog trainers.

Puppy Foster Homes must have a safe environment for the dogs. The dog is expected to live in the home with the family or person(s). In addition, the puppy will be taken with the family after training anywhere they go with Public Access. The Puppy will wear a cape showing it as a service dog in training.

Even if you have children and your own dog, you can still be a Puppy Foster Home. We would love to have you apply.

Help On Campus

We are looking for volunteers, who can help on campus.

Administrative Support

Volunteers are needed to assist with many clerical and administrative projects. Answering phones (lunchtime and meeting relief); making phone calls; updating our database and assisting with large mailing projects.

Kennel Support

Cleanliness is vital for the health of our dogs. Projects such as power washing our dogs kennels is very important. Rub a dub dub, pups in the tub. Dogs love to splash and play in the mud so washing dogs is a wet and wild time.

Maintenance Support

Do you enjoy gardening? Or perhaps fixing fences is your expertise. Volunteers help keep our campus grounds clean and well maintained.
